Privacy Policy

Scott Sells Chevys ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Scott Hall, a licensed Chevrolet sales consultant in Central Ohio. This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you interact with our website, chatbot, trade-in tools, or contact forms, how we use it, and the rights you have over your information.

You give us: name, email, phone number, mailing address, the vehicle you're interested in, trade-in vehicle details (year/make/model/mileage/condition/VIN/photos), financing preferences, message content, and any other information you voluntarily share.

Automatically collected: pages viewed, vehicles favorited, search filters used, IP address, browser/device info, approximate location (city/state from IP), and chat conversation history.

From third parties: the NHTSA vPIC public database returns vehicle specifications when you enter a VIN. We never sell or share your information with marketing third parties.

• To prepare an accurate trade appraisal or "Build My Own Deal" quote
• To follow up by phone, text, or email about your inquiry
• To send you new-inventory alerts when you opt into saved searches or push notifications
• To improve the site experience and our service quality
• To comply with legal obligations (tax records, dealer reporting requirements)

Your information is visible only to Scott Hall and authorized employees of Scott Sells Chevys (current team listed on our About page). We never sell your data. Limited operational data is shared with trusted service providers that help us run the site:

• Email delivery (Resend)
• Database hosting (MongoDB Atlas)
• Push notification gateway (Web Push)
• AI text generation (OpenAI via Emergent LLM gateway) — used to draft follow-up emails and summarize lead history; your information is processed but not used to train third-party models

We use only essential cookies (login session and CSRF protection). We do not run third-party advertising trackers, Facebook pixels, or Google Analytics by default. The site is a Progressive Web App — if you install it, it may cache files locally to work offline.

You can ask us to:

• Show you a copy of all information we have on you
• Correct anything that's wrong
• Delete your account and associated data ("right to be forgotten")
• Stop contacting you (you can unsubscribe from emails, reply STOP to texts, or revoke push notifications in your browser/PWA settings)

We keep lead records and conversation history for as long as you remain an active customer, plus seven (7) years for tax and dealer compliance purposes after the last transaction. Saved searches and inactive accounts are purged after 24 months of inactivity. Customer photo galleries (e.g. from "Customers we've helped") are kept with your written consent and removed at your request.

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Sessions use JWT tokens with short expirations. Database connections are encrypted in transit. We have not had a known breach. If we ever do, we'll notify affected customers within 72 hours and explain what happened and what to do about it.

By submitting your phone number you consent to receive non-marketing follow-up texts and calls from Scott Sells Chevys regarding your inquiry. Standard message rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. By submitting your email you consent to receive transactional and follow-up emails; you can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link at the bottom.

Our service is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, contact us and we'll delete it.

We may update this policy as our practices evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage.
